§ 14892 Weed Removal Notice Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •The county can tell you to remove dangerous weeds on your property.
  • •If you don’t remove the weeds, the county will do it and charge you for it.
  • •You can argue against it at a meeting if you don’t agree.
  • •If you don’t pay the cost, the county can put a hold on your property until you pay.

Example

You have tall, wild weeds growing in your front yard that could spread to your neighbor’s yard or the street.

The county sends you a letter saying you must remove the weeds. If you ignore it, they’ll cut the weeds and send you the bill. If you don’t pay, they can make you pay before you sell your house.
