§ 131400 Health Information Definitions

Key Takeaways

  • •This law defines important words used in this part of the rules.
  • •It explains what 'personal information' is, like your name, address, or health details.
  • •It also explains what 'protected health information' is, which is any health info that can identify you.
  • •The law lists places like hospitals and emergency rooms as 'specified entities' that must follow these rules.

Example

You go to the hospital, and they write down your name, address, and why you're sick.

The hospital has to keep this info safe because it's your 'personal information' and 'protected health info' under this law.
