§ 13060 Blue Hydrant Pavement Markers

Key Takeaways

  • •Blue reflective markers on roads can only be used to show where fire hydrants and water supplies are.
  • •These markers are not allowed on freeways or freeway ramps.
  • •If a city or town wants to put these markers on a state highway, they need permission from the Department of Transportation first.

Example

A city wants to put blue markers on a road to show where fire hydrants are.

The city can do this, but if the road is a state highway, they need to get a permit first. They can't use these markers for anything else, like marking bike lanes.
