§ 128770 Health Facility Reporting Penalties

Key Takeaways

  • •Hospitals or surgery clinics must send reports on time. If they don't, they pay $100 for every day the report is late.
  • •If a hospital doesn't use the right accounting system for their reports, they can be fined up to $5,000.
  • •The hospital or clinic can ask to reduce or cancel the fine if they have a good reason.
  • •All the fine money goes to the state's General Fund.

Example

A small clinic forgets to send its monthly report to the state for 5 days.

The clinic will have to pay $100 for each day the report is late, so they owe $500. If they have a good reason, like a computer crash, they can ask the state to lower or cancel the fine.
