§ 128455 Foster Youth Mental Health Loans

Key Takeaways

  • •This law helps pay back school loans for certain mental health workers.
  • •To get help, you must work in a public place or where there aren’t enough mental health workers for at least 2 years.
  • •Only some jobs qualify: marriage and family therapists, social workers, and counselors.
  • •You must have been in California’s foster care when you were younger.

Example

A person who grew up in foster care becomes a licensed clinical social worker and gets a job at a public hospital.

Because they work in a public place and were in foster care, this law can help pay back their school loans if they stay at the job for 2 years.
