§ 124420 Third-Party Reimbursement Requirement

Key Takeaways

  • •If a group gets money from the government to help people, they must try to get extra money from other places like Medi-Cal or private insurance for the people they help.
  • •The extra money they get must be used for things that match the Primary Care Services Act.
  • •The group might have to tell the government how much extra money they got.

Example

A clinic gets money from the government to give free check-ups to kids. If a kid has Medi-Cal, the clinic must bill Medi-Cal for the check-up instead of using only the government money.

The clinic has to try to get money from Medi-Cal first. Any money they get from Medi-Cal must be used for more check-ups or other health services for kids. They also might have to report to the government how much money they got from Medi-Cal.
