§ 12002 Local Explosives Ordinance Exemptions

Key Takeaways

  • •This law is about rules for moving and storing explosives.
  • •Cities and counties can make their own rules about explosives, but they must be at least as strict as the state rules.
  • •The state rules don’t apply when you’re moving explosives on highways or at special safe stops set by the Vehicle Code.

Example

A truck driver is moving fireworks from one city to another.

The driver must follow the state rules for moving explosives on highways. But when they reach the city where the fireworks will be stored, they must also follow that city’s rules, which might be even stricter than the state’s rules.
