§ 118029 Medical Waste Hauler Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If you transport medical waste in California, you must follow special rules set by the government.
  • •Every year by July 1, you must tell the state your business info, how much waste you carry, and who you pick it up from.
  • •You must also give the state a list of all the places you picked up waste from every few months.
  • •If you don’t follow these rules, you could get in trouble.

Example

A company picks up used needles and old medicine from hospitals and clinics to dispose of them safely.

This company must tell the state every year how much waste they carry, what kinds, and which hospitals they work with. They also have to send a list of all the hospitals they’ve worked with every few months. If they don’t, they could be fined or stopped from working.
