§ 116880 Building Standards Adoption

Key Takeaways

  • •The state makes rules for how buildings should be built to keep people safe and healthy.
  • •These rules are written down in a big book called the State Building Standards Code.
  • •Local and state officials, like building inspectors, make sure these rules are followed.

Example

If someone wants to build a new apartment building

They have to follow the state's building rules, like making sure there are enough exits in case of a fire. An inspector will check to make sure everything is done the right way before people can move in.
