§ 115921 Pool Safety Definitions

Key Takeaways

  • •A swimming pool is any structure with water deeper than 18 inches, like hot tubs or spas.
  • •A public swimming pool is for everyone or club members, but not private home pools.
  • •An enclosure is a fence or wall that keeps the pool separate from the house.
  • •Suction outlets are the drains at the bottom or sides of the pool that pull water to the pump.

Example

If you have a hot tub in your backyard, it is considered a swimming pool under this law.

Even though it's small, it has water deeper than 18 inches, so the rules for swimming pools apply.
