§ 115015 Radioactive Material Disposal Licenses

Key Takeaways

  • •The government can decide how many licenses to give out for handling radioactive waste.
  • •These licenses are for places that take radioactive material from others to throw away on land.
  • •Not everyone who wants a license may get one if the government sets a limit.

Example

A company wants to start a business that takes radioactive waste from hospitals and buries it safely in the ground.

The government might say 'no' to giving them a license if they already gave out enough licenses to other companies. This is to control how much radioactive waste is buried and keep things safe.
