§ 113734 Health Standard Approval

Key Takeaways

  • •Something is 'approved' if it follows the rules set by the government to keep people safe.
  • •If there are no specific rules, it should follow what most experts and industries agree is safe for public health.
  • •The government checks if things meet these safety rules before saying they are 'approved'.

Example

A new restaurant wants to open and serve food to customers.

The restaurant must follow food safety rules, like keeping food at the right temperature and having clean cooking areas. If there's no specific rule about something, like how to arrange the tables, they should follow what most restaurants do to keep customers safe. If they do this, the government will approve them to open.
