§ 113105 Processed Pet Food Labeling

Key Takeaways

  • •Pet food must match what it says on the label.
  • •The label must list the real name of the pet food and any extra ingredients.
  • •Spices and colors can just be called 'spices' or 'colorings' without listing each one.

Example

You buy a bag of dog food labeled 'Beef and Vegetable Dinner'.

The food must actually have beef and vegetables inside, and the label must say so. If it doesn’t, it’s breaking the law.
