§ 11251 Wholesale Prescription Exemptions

Key Takeaways

  • •Big medicine sellers (like drug companies or wholesalers) don’t need a prescription to sell medicines to certain people.
  • •They can sell to other pharmacies, doctors, dentists, vets, and even some nurses or helpers in special health projects.
  • •This rule is only for big sales (wholesale), not for selling to regular people.

Example

A big drug company sells a box of painkillers to a local pharmacy.

The drug company doesn’t need a prescription to sell the painkillers to the pharmacy because pharmacies are on the allowed list.
