§ 112250 Enforcement And Pre-Prosecution Notice

Key Takeaways

  • •If someone breaks the rules in this law, the Attorney General or a local lawyer must start a court case against them.
  • •Before taking someone to court, they might get a warning and a chance to explain why they shouldn’t be punished.
  • •The person can talk or write their side of the story, either by themselves or with a lawyer.

Example

A store owner sells cigarettes to kids under 18.

The police find out and tell the Attorney General. Before going to court, the store owner gets a warning and can explain why they shouldn’t be punished—maybe they didn’t know the kid’s age. If their excuse isn’t good enough, they’ll still go to court.
