§ 111555 Application Approval Timeline

Key Takeaways

  • •The government has 180 days to decide on your application after you submit it.
  • •If they don't approve it, they must tell you in writing and give you a chance to explain your side in a hearing.
  • •If you ask for a hearing within 30 days, it must start within 90 days after that.
  • •The final decision after the hearing must come within 90 days after all the papers are turned in.

Example

You apply for a permit to open a small food stand.

The government has 180 days to say yes or no. If they say no, they must tell you why and let you have a hearing to explain why your food stand should be allowed. If you ask for the hearing within 30 days, it must happen quickly, and they have to give you their final answer within 90 days after the hearing is done.
