This law says that any toxic household product sold in California must have a bitter taste added to it so kids won't want to drink it, unless it has a child-proof cap.

Key Takeaways

  • •Toxic household products must taste bitter to keep kids safe.
  • •If the product has a child-proof cap, it doesn't need the bitter taste.
  • •Some products, like outdoor pesticides, have extra time to add the bitter taste.

Example

A bottle of cleaning spray that looks like juice.

The cleaning spray must taste really bitter so a kid won't drink it by mistake, or it must have a child-proof cap.
