§ 107075 Radiologic Technology Violations

This law says if you break the radiology rules, you can be fined up to $5,000 for each day you’re guilty, and you might also go to jail for up to 180 days.

Key Takeaways

  • •Breaking radiology rules can lead to a daily fine of up to $5,000.
  • •You can also be sent to county jail for up to 180 days.
  • •Civil penalties are added on top of any other punishments.

Example

A clinic runs an X‑ray machine without the required safety checks for three days in a row.

Because the clinic broke the radiology rules each day, the law lets the state fine them $5,000 for each day and could also put the clinic owner in jail for up to 180 days.

How to Calculate

Penalty = $5,000 × Number of Days × Number of Offenses

  1. Count how many days the violation happened.
  2. Count how many separate offenses (different violations) occurred.
  3. Multiply $5,000 by the days and then by the offenses.

A technician ignored safety rules on two different machines for four days.

Result: $5,000 × 4 × 2 = $40,000 total fine
