§ 103635 Fee Overpayment Refund Rules

• •Overpayments are not automatically returned.
• •A written request gets the money back if made within one year.
• •If the overpayment is more than $2, you can get a refund even after a year.
• •The request must be in writing.

Jane pays $55 for a filing fee that actually costs $50.

Because Jane overpaid by $5, she can write a letter to the Registrar asking for the $5 back. She can do this any time, since the overpayment is more than $2, or she can ask within a year even if the extra amount were smaller.
