§ 102610 Delayed Birth Certificate Copies

This law says the State Registrar must mail official copies of a late birth certificate to the local registrar and the county recorder where the baby was born and where the year’s records are kept.

Key Takeaways

  • •The State Registrar sends certified copies of delayed birth certificates.
  • •Copies go to the local registrar and the county recorder where the birth happened.
  • •They also go to the offices that keep records for the year the birth occurred.

Example

A child is born in 2022 but the birth certificate isn’t filed until 2024.

The State Registrar will send certified copies of that delayed certificate to the town’s registrar office and the county recorder’s office that handle births from 2022, so those offices have the correct record.
