§ 102233 Minor Marriage Data Report

The law requires the state to publish each year a list of marriages where one or both people were under 18, broken down by county, but without any names or personal details.

Key Takeaways

  • •The state must produce a yearly report of marriages involving minors, organized by county.
  • •The report can only include the data about the marriages, not names, addresses, or other personal info.
  • •Anyone can request to see the public report.

Example

A county clerk records a marriage where a 17‑year‑old got married last year. The state then creates a public report that shows how many such teen marriages occurred in each county, but it does not show who they were or where they lived.

The report is made available to anyone who asks for it, but it only includes the count of teen marriages by county and no identifying information.
