§ 4132 Harbor Commission Appointment

• •A petition must be signed by freeholders who are also voters in the county.
• •The number of signatures must be at least 15% of the votes cast for governor in the last election.
• •If the petition meets those numbers, the county board can appoint a harbor commission.
• •The new commission follows the rules in Article 1 of the same chapter, as long as they don’t conflict with this section.

In County Z, 80,000 people voted for the governor in the last election. A group of 12,000 freeholder‑voters signs a petition asking the county to improve Harbor Bay.

Because the petition has signatures from at least 15% of the governor‑vote total (12,000 ≥ 12,000), the board of supervisors can create a Harbor Commission for County Z to plan and oversee the harbor work.
