§ 1706 Port Infrastructure Funding Approval

This law says that before any state money is spent on a privately owned port or harbor, the Treasurer must say it's okay, and the agency in charge has to send a yearly report about the money to the Controller and the California Debt Advisory Commission.

Key Takeaways

  • •Treasurer must approve any public money for private port or harbor projects.
  • •The agency handling the project must file an annual report on all money in and out.
  • •The report goes to both the Controller and the California Debt Advisory Commission.

Example

A city wants to use state funds to fix the dock at a privately owned fishing harbor.

First the city must get the Treasurer's approval before any money is spent, and then each year it must tell the Controller and the Debt Advisory Commission how much was received and spent on that dock project.
