§ 1701 Infrastructure Fund Deposits

This law says that a special authority must put all grant money and any other funds it decides to into an infrastructure fund, and that public trust money stays a public trust even when it goes into that fund.

Key Takeaways

  • •All federal, state, or private grants the authority receives must be put into the infrastructure fund.
  • •The authority can also put any other money it gets into the fund if it decides to.
  • •Money that comes from a public trust stays a public trust even after it is placed in the infrastructure fund.

Example

The authority gets a federal grant to repair a highway and also decides to add some extra money it received from a local business. Both the grant and the extra money must be placed in the infrastructure fund.

Because the law requires all grants and any other money the authority chooses to go into the fund, the highway repair money and the extra business money are both deposited there, keeping the money separate for infrastructure projects.
