§ 1155 Board Subpoena Authority

The president of the board may administer oaths in regard to any matter properly before it and he or she may issue subpoenas for witnesses in like cases. A witness disobeying the subpoena served on him or her shall incur a penalty of five hundred dollars ($500), for which judgment may be recovered by the board in a civil action. This section shall not apply to proceedings conducted in accordance with Chapter 5 (commencing with Section 11500) of Part 1 of Division 3 of Title 2 of the Government Code. (Amended by Stats. 2008, Ch. 567, Sec. 10. Effective January 1, 2009.)
