This law says the state will make sure ships in Monterey Bay and the San Francisco, San Pablo, and Suisun bays get qualified pilots so people, boats, property, and the environment stay safe.

Key Takeaways

  • •The goal is safety for people, vessels, property, and the surrounding ecosystem in the listed bays.
  • •The law aims to stop damage from ship collisions or other vessel accidents.
  • •The state will provide regulated, competent pilot services for any vessel that the division says needs a pilot.

Example
