§ 66476 Street Access Waiver Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Cities can make rules that say if you give land for a street, you might have to give up the right to directly access that street from your property.
  • •If the city accepts the land for the street, the rule about giving up direct access starts working right away.
  • •This rule is about making sure new streets are safe and well-planned.

Example

You own a big piece of land and want to build a new neighborhood. The city asks you to give some of your land to make a new street. They also say you can't have a driveway directly onto that new street from your property.

If you agree and the city takes the land for the street, you can't later add a driveway from your property to that street. This keeps the street safer and more organized.
