§ 6580 Joint County Park Boards

Key Takeaways

  • •A 'joint county park board' is a group that takes care of a park or fun place (like a playground) that is in more than one county.
  • •The park or fun place cannot be inside a city—it has to be in the country or unincorporated areas.
  • •All the counties where the park is located must agree to work together to take care of it.
  • •The word 'park' here means any place where people go to have fun or relax, like a playground or sports field, that this special board takes care of.

Example

Imagine there’s a big lake with picnic areas and hiking trails that sits between two counties, but not inside any city.

Both counties can agree to create a special group (the 'joint county park board') to take care of the lake and trails together. This group will make sure the park is clean, safe, and fun for everyone to use.
