§ 65351 Public Participation In Planning

Key Takeaways

  • •When a city or town is making or changing its big plan for the future, they have to let regular people and groups give their ideas.
  • •They must listen to normal citizens, Native American tribes, schools, and other local groups.
  • •They have to hold public meetings where anyone can speak up about what they think should be in the plan.

Example

Your town is deciding where to build new parks, schools, and roads for the next 20 years.

The town must hold meetings where you, your neighbors, and local groups can tell them what you want—like more parks or safer bike lanes. They can’t just decide without listening to the people who live there.
