§ 57422 Disincorporated City Bond Tax

Key Takeaways

  • •If a city stops being a city, people who live there still have to pay some taxes.
  • •This tax is only for paying off old debts the city owed before it stopped being a city.
  • •The tax is collected at the same time as other city taxes.

Example

Imagine a small town called Sunnyville decides it doesn’t want to be a town anymore. Before it stopped being a town, Sunnyville borrowed money to build a park.

Even though Sunnyville isn’t a town anymore, the people who live there still have to pay a little extra tax every year to pay back the money borrowed for the park.
