§ 57417 Public Utility Tax Funds

Key Takeaways

  • •Money collected from taxes for public services (like water or trash) must go into a special account.
  • •This money can only be used for that specific service, not for other things.
  • •The goal is to make sure the service gets better or keeps running smoothly.

Example

Your city charges a small fee every month for trash pickup.

That money can’t be used for fixing roads or schools—it has to stay in a special account just for trash services, like buying new trash bins or paying workers.
