§ 57101 City Annexation Contract Option

Key Takeaways

  • •If a city wants to add land that has a special farm contract (Williamson Act), they have to say if they’ll keep or drop that contract.
  • •The city must make this clear in their official decision paper.
  • •This rule helps protect farmland from being treated differently after the city takes it over.

Example

A city wants to add a big farm area to its borders. The farm has a special contract to keep it as farmland.

The city must officially say in their decision if they’ll keep the farm contract or not. If they drop it, the farmland might lose its protections.
