§ 56124 County Jurisdiction Transfer Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •If a change affects more than one county, one county can take full control of the process.
  • •The main county must agree to let another county take over.
  • •The main county picks which other county will be in charge.
  • •The other county must agree to take on the job.

Example

Two counties, County A and County B, are figuring out how to share water resources. County A is usually in charge, but they want County B to handle everything this time.

County A (the main county) agrees to let County B take over. County A picks County B to be in charge, and County B says yes. Now, County B is fully responsible for making decisions and handling all the paperwork.
