§ 5603 Bond Denomination Flexibility

Key Takeaways

  • •Local governments can decide the amount (denomination) of bonds they want to sell.
  • •They don’t have to follow usual rules about the smallest or largest amount for bonds.
  • •Bonds in the same group can have different amounts.

Example

A city wants to sell bonds to build a new park.

The city can choose to sell bonds in amounts like $100, $500, or $1,000, even if the usual rules say bonds must be at least $1,000. They can mix different amounts in the same sale.
