§ 53836 Special District Borrowing Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •This law gives special districts (like local government groups) another way to borrow money.
  • •If they borrow money using this law, it doesn’t count against other borrowing limits they might have.
  • •It’s an extra option, not a replacement for other ways they can borrow.

Example

A small town needs money to fix its old water pipes.

The town can use this law to borrow money for the pipes, and this loan won’t stop them from borrowing more money later for something else, like fixing roads.
