§ 52202 Commercial Building Rehabilitation Loans

Key Takeaways

  • •Cities or counties can lend money to people to fix up old business buildings.
  • •The loan must have a written plan with payment details, interest rules, and what happens if the person can't pay back.
  • •Before giving the loan, the city must hold a public meeting to make sure the loan is really needed and that the person can't get a better loan from a bank.

Example

A small business owner wants to fix up an old, run-down shop but doesn't have enough money.

The city can lend them money to repair the shop, but first, they must have a public meeting to check if the loan is necessary. The loan will have a clear plan for paying it back with interest.
