§ 5056 Facsimile Seal Authorization

Key Takeaways

  • •If a document needs a seal (like a stamp or mark), an official can use a copy of the seal instead of the real one.
  • •The copy of the seal works the same as the real seal.
  • •This rule has been in place since 1983.

Example

A city official needs to sign and seal a document for a new park project.

Instead of using the actual metal seal, the official can use a stamped or printed copy of the seal on the document. The copy is just as valid as the real seal.
