§ 3612 Public Transit Strike Intervention

Key Takeaways

  • •If a strike or lockout could mess up public transportation and hurt people, the Governor can step in.
  • •The Governor can create a group to look into the problem and write a report in 7 days.
  • •While the group is investigating, no strikes or lockouts are allowed.

Example

Bus drivers in a big city threaten to go on strike, which would leave thousands of people without a way to get to work or school.

The Governor can stop the strike and set up a group to figure out what’s going on. While the group is working, the bus drivers can’t go on strike, and the bosses can’t lock them out.
