§ 34858 City Manager Abolition Process

• •If a city uses a city manager to run things, they can stop using one.
• •To stop using a city manager, the city must follow the same steps they used to start using one.
• •The city gets to decide how to do this, as long as they follow their own rules.

A city voted to hire a city manager to handle day-to-day stuff like fixing roads and managing city workers.

If the city later decides they don’t want a city manager anymore, they have to hold another vote or follow the same process they used to hire the manager in the first place.
