§ 34459 Charter Ratification And Filing

Key Takeaways

  • •If people vote 'yes' on a new rule or change, it’s approved but not official yet.
  • •The new rule only starts working after the Secretary of State says it’s okay and files it.
  • •Even if voters agree, the rule waits until the state gives the final okay.

Example

Your town votes to change school lunch rules to include pizza every Friday.

Even if most people vote 'yes,' the pizza rule doesn’t start right away. It only happens after the Secretary of State checks and files the new rule.
