§ 32329 Partial Service Credit Election

Key Takeaways

  • •You can choose to not count all your old work time for your pension.
  • •If you do this, you get some money back or pay less based on how much of your old work time you want to count.
  • •The money amount is calculated using 2% of the total pay you got during the old work time you want to count.

Example

If you worked 10 years at a job but only want to count 5 years for your new pension.

You'll get some money back or pay less because you're only counting half of your old work time. The amount is 2% of the pay you got during those 5 years.
