§ 31731 Disability Beneficiary Medical Examination

Key Takeaways

  • •If you get money because you can't work (disability) and you're under 55, you must go to a doctor check-up if asked.
  • •If you say no to the check-up, they'll stop giving you money until you agree to go.
  • •If you keep saying no for a whole year, they'll stop your money forever.

Example

John gets money every month because he hurt his back at work and can't work anymore. He's 50 years old.

If the people giving John money ask him to go to a doctor to check his back, and John says no, they'll stop giving him money. If John keeps saying no for a year, he won't get any more money at all.
