§ 31693 Retiree Health Benefit Notices

Key Takeaways

  • •Retired workers must get a heads-up before their health benefits change.
  • •The group representing retired workers gets to share their thoughts before any changes are made.
  • •Big changes include things like different health plans, new costs, or changes in what the plan covers.

Example

The county wants to switch retired workers to a new health insurance plan that costs more.

The county must tell the retired workers' group about the change first. The group can then say if they think it’s a bad idea before the county decides.
