§ 30070 Local Law Enforcement Funding

Key Takeaways

  • •This law gives money to sheriff departments in 37 small California counties to help them do better police work.
  • •The money comes from special state funds and is split equally (2.7027%) among all 37 counties.
  • •The money can't be used to replace other police funding or to buy cameras for watching the public.

Example

If Alpine County gets $100,000 from this fund, they must spend it on extra police work like more patrols or better equipment.

They can't use this money to pay for things they already had, like regular officer salaries. Also, they can't buy street cameras with it.
