§ 29374 County Cash Deficit Reimbursement

Key Takeaways

  • •If there's missing money in a county department, the boss must pay it back right away.
  • •The boss can only use a special fund (cash difference fund) to cover the missing money.
  • •If the special fund doesn't have enough, the boss can't pay more than what's in it unless the county leaders add more money.
  • •The boss can't pay back more than what the county leaders have approved.

Example

A county office finds $500 missing from their cash drawer.

The boss of that office must pay back the $500 right away. They can only use the money from a special fund set up for this kind of problem. If that fund only has $300, the boss can only pay back $300 unless the county leaders decide to add more money to the fund.
