§ 26026 County Airport Funding Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •The county leaders can decide to give money to the U.S. government to help buy or fix up airports in their county.
  • •This can only happen if at least four-fifths (80%) of the leaders agree.
  • •They can only do this if they think it will help the county.

Example

Imagine your county has a small airport that needs a longer runway so bigger planes can land. The U.S. government says they will help make the runway longer, but they need some money from the county.

The county leaders can vote to give money to the U.S. government for this project. But they need at least 8 out of 10 leaders to say yes. They will only do this if they think it will help the county, like bringing more visitors or businesses.
