Key Takeaways

  • •The law lets local leaders make rules to stop dogs from hurting sheep and to control wild animals that attack livestock.
  • •They can charge a fee to dog owners to help pay for these rules.
  • •Vets might have to tell the county if a dog was shot or poisoned, including who owns the dog or brought it in for help.

Example

A farmer's sheep keep getting attacked by dogs running loose in the area.

The county can make rules to keep dogs away from sheep, like requiring dogs to be leashed or fencing in sheep areas.
