§ 25375 County Hospital Gift Shops

Key Takeaways

  • •In big counties (with 4 million+ people), volunteer groups can run gift shops in county hospitals.
  • •The county doesn’t have to charge these groups money or make them compete for the right to run the shop.
  • •All the money the gift shop makes must go to help the patients in that hospital.

Example

A group of volunteers wants to open a gift shop in a big county hospital to sell flowers and snacks.

The county can let them do it without making them pay rent or compete with other groups. But all the money they make from selling stuff must be used to help the patients, like buying them books or TVs.
