§ 23571 County Consolidation Property Transfer

Key Takeaways

  • •When counties merge into one big county, the old counties disappear.
  • •If the old counties had special rules (like a charter), those rules go away.
  • •Anything the old counties owned (like buildings or land) now belongs to the new big county.

Example

Imagine two small towns, Town A and Town B, decide to become one big town called Town C.

Town A and Town B don’t exist anymore—they’re now part of Town C. If Town A had its own special rules, those rules are gone. Any parks or buildings Town A or Town B owned now belong to Town C.
