§ 23535 County Consolidation Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •This law is about what happens when two or more counties want to become one big county.
  • •The government has to figure out how much money this change will cost or save.
  • •They also have to plan how to move all the services (like schools and roads) from the old counties to the new one.
  • •The new big county will be split into smaller areas for schools, roads, and leaders to represent people.

Example

Imagine two small towns next to each other want to become one big town.

The government has to check if this will cost too much money, how to move all the town services (like trash pickup and schools) to the new big town, and how to split the big town into smaller parts so everyone is represented fairly.
